5Great entry level racing bike!
By Lucas Hansen
First, let me start by saying I've been dedicated to riding for 4 years now. In that time I've owned a schwinn prelude (was trying out the sport, horribly heavy bike though), a Trek 1.2 2011, and a 2011 Diamondback Podium 4. I can assure you the diamondback is way better than the entry level Trek. Now, as far as this bike goes, the Podium 3, it has a slightly more relaxed geometry than last years aluminum frames but only a little. Riding last years and this years you be hard pressed to say the previous model was better, in fact I think the opposite. I immediately felt a difference, for the better, as soon as I climbed on board the new road bike. When climbing, there seems to be more leverage or something. So, the bike rides well. The new color scheme has gotten me nothing but thumbs up and lot's of "what kind of bike is that?" and "where can I get one?". Also, the wheels though heavy, are perfect for training on, and look top notch! Aero rims combined with beefy white spokes, looks nothing but money! As for the components, well, I feel that the 105 5700 shifters and derailleurs work very well here. I constantly compare them back to back with my ultegra 6700 set I have on my Podium 4 and I have to say the ultegras are better, but not by a whole lot. All in all, this is a solid starting point for anyone just getting into the sport.

5Smooth as Butta
By phoenixtoohot
I bought this after a 30 year hiatus on mountain bikes. I had a good mountain bike, but it felt like I was dragging an anchor, riding on the streets. I tried a Trek 1.2 and a couple of other road bikes before I bought the Diamondback. This bike is light, precise and felt smooth and fast. The shifting is foolproof and precise with the handlebar mounted shifters. Early on, I had some problems with noise from the bottom bracket/crank. Diamondback replaced my 2011 with a new 2012 model for my trouble, which I thought was excellent customer support. Highly recommended.

2!!Two stars to four stars!! WHY??
By Ronald P. Manus
In my first review I wrote: "If it weren't for the bad bracket "BB30" I'd give it 3 or four stars.

Up until today I was very unhappy with the bike because: 1. Shortly after getting the bike the valve blew out on the front tube. 2. When I removed the wheel to install a new tube I noticed that the wheel didn't run smoothly --at which time I cleaned and greased the bearings and ordered a new set of hubs with sealed bearings. 3. I noticed a clicking when I pedaled but put off looking for the cause as I wanted to ride the new bike and had little time for repairs. Also I'm hard of hearing, was ridding alone, and wasn't too concerned. On Tuesday I was finally able to go out with my old group, for the first after having to care for my wife 24/7 for some months. These old friends were happily surprised by my new bike but before we we had gone very far the louder and louder clicking coming from my BB30 bottom bracket had everyone trying to distance themselves from me and the noise.

Then when we got home and I consulted the internet I found that such clicks could be very difficult and sometimes costly to repair.

Then today when I went to work on the bike I: 1. Found that the front wheel that I had cleaned and regreased turned beautifully 2. found and repaired the problem with the BB30 in less time than I had hoped and 3. after ridding the bike anew fell in love with it due to many good features that "the clicking" kept me from seeing.

As of tonight I would give the bike a 4 or 5 because even though the rubber and seat might not be the best THE REST OF THE BIKE SEEMS TO BE VERY GOOD AND BETTER THAN EXPECTED.
